They rely on air travel to conduct their businesses and maintain ties with friends and family. Although the airline industry orig- inated more than 50 years ago, it is still a growth industry, with a rate of increase faster than the growth rate of the nation's gross national product GNP. Moreover, air travel is likely to develop its dominant position because no projected mode of transportation could displace it as the quick- est and most efficient way of moving people from city to city.
Bike sharing system as mode of public transport is very popular in the world. This smart solution can be described as answer to an increasingly frequent traffic congestion and parking problems in many cities all around the world. This issue is beginning to relate to some cities in Slovakia as well. Bicycles address traffic congestion as they form a valid substitution for cars on short trips, contribute to the use of public transport by providing effective last-mile connectivity and simply take up less space on the road. As the system of shared bicycles works from , it is relatively new in Slovakia.
Pages: Abstract Traffic congestion, a severe problem in many developing countries, has become a universal phenomenon. For more than 25 years, almost since the end of hostilities in Lebanon, the transportation sector has been facing numerous problems due mainly to bad road infrastructure, an increasing number of vehicles and a quasi-absent public transportation system. Local and foreign transportation researchers and experts have suggested a number of solutions over the years to alleviate traffic congestion problems in Lebanon, such as variable operating schedules, constructing bridges and interchanges, implementing boat taxis, adopting public transport like BRT Bus Rapid Transit , restoring the railway tracks, etc. However, only a few of these suggestions have been implemented so far. A proper planning of transportation in cities entails an understanding of the dynamics of both transport demand and supply. Since there are limited land spaces in Lebanon, building additional roadways has become quite difficult and at the expense of the remaining agricultural and natural areas, and could lead to additional harmful pollutants entering the air, land and water.
Traffic congestion is a worldwide issue, especially in developing countries. This is also the case of Afghanistan, especially in Kabul-the capital city, whose rapid population growth makes it the fifth fastest growing city in the world. Traffic congestion affects not only the mobility of people and goods but also the air quality that leads to numerous deaths people every year. There are many factors that contribute to traffic congestion. The insufficiency and inefficiency of public transportation system along with the increase of private vehicles can be considered among the most important contributing factors.

Traffic congestion is a condition in transport that is characterised by slower speeds, longer trip times, and increased vehicular queueing. Traffic congestion on urban road networks has increased substantially, since the s. While congestion is a possibility for any mode of transportation , this article will focus on automobile congestion on public roads. As demand approaches the capacity of a road or of the intersections along the road , extreme traffic congestion sets in. When vehicles are fully stopped for periods of time, this is known as a traffic jam or informally a traffic snarl-up. Mathematically, traffic is modeled as a flow through a fixed point on the route, analogously to fluid dynamics.

The region has an urban population under ,, surrounded by a dispersed rural population. Congestion-reduction measures can be thought of as falling into two categories: temporary and virtuous. Temporary measures free up road capacity that is soon filled by induced demand: people adapt their lifestyles to prevailing road conditions. Such measures are therefore worth pursuing only if they either buy time or lay the foundations for more radical interventions.
